The pitched roof is the simplified from its traditional form to get as much photovoltaic area as possible. White color is adopted for the exterior wall to present its purity and simplicity, which take the architecture scale and the interior space layout into consideration.

A corridor is set outside the the entrance. First, it functions as the transitional area between the internal space and external space, enriching the architectural hierarchy to fulfill various requirements of residents. Secondly,it could also adjust the sun-shading in summer and sunlight-acquiring in winter (The solar elevation angle is higher in summer so that the cornice could offer a shelter to shade the sunlight, while the angle is lower in winter so that the sun could directly shine into the room).

When it comes to the elevation appearance design, the external distinctive features of such a building using solar energy is appreciated and remained. Meanwhile, more ecological and green elements have been adopted to improve the appearance of the building elevation.

The living room, dining room and some auxiliary rooms are arranged on the first floor mainly while the bedroom, reading area and courtyard on the second floor, taking into account the openness and privacy. The leap-style layout enlarges the space and promotes people's communication and activities.

Within the room, an integrated design is adopted for the living room, dining room and kitchen so that indoor space becomes wider.

The owners of the room is assumed to be middle-aged man/women in his/her forties. Therefore, the layout of the room considers two different situations. One is that they parents live without their children, and the other is that they live with their children. The first floor layout is mainly composed of the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, storage room, etc. The second floor layout is mainly composed of the bedroom, reception area, open-air garden and other parts. When the parents live without their children, the first floor can be used to entertain their friends, hold parties and enjoy their leisure by the bar set up by the window. The second floor which is more private can be used for sleeping and enjoying the sunshine. A collapsible bed is provided for the main bedroom for its small space to increase available space in the daytime. When the parents live with their children, the second bedroom serves as the children’ bedroom and study to meet basic needs.

The materials used are mainly wood floors in natural colors and white integrated plates, creating a simple and warm indoor space.
